Hello everyone. I thought that I would drop the forum a note to say that I am retiring from Vinci online. I have just submitted my last move in the last game that I had running. Maybe I will play again in the future, maybe not.

I have had several fun years as Ludagora's top English player of Vinci! I moved to this site on Anthony Kam's recommendation when the German site was closed for a long time, and once I realised that by only playing anonymous games I could avoid the inevitable "attack the English player!" bias, I never looked back. In particular, I found a friend in Marion (peetchita), who helped me to translate the insults that French players wrote to me when I beat them.

But recently I have not had as much enjoyment as I used to. I have tried playing only against the top players, and I have tried playing against normal players, and either way I still don't enjoy it as much. I found myself making silly moves purely because I did not care about the game in progress, and, if nothing else, that is not fair to the other players. Also, I have a new job starting in January which I want to focus on without sneaking onto Ludagora to make Vinci moves, and as well as that many of the people who I knew on this site no longer play. So it is time for me to leave.

I hope that some of you have pleasant memories of playing interesting games with me, and that most of you do not have any unpleasant memories. Either way, I would like to thank everyone, especially Gilles and Marion, for helping me to enjoy my time on Ludagora. Perhaps I will be back soon when I get bored or sacked! But for now: finis.

PS/ My apologies, as ever, for not writing en francais. I tried putting it through an online translator but it was even more garbled than it would have been had I tried writing it in French myself.
